OK well I aint totally thought about it fully yet, as I'd only do it if there was enough interest.
But I was thinking something along the line of each week the bigger fights taking place would be put up. Each person taking part could pick two methods of victory per fight. Each method of victory has a points total associated with it based on the difficulty of the prediction.
Each week there will be a leaderboard for that week (person with the most total points)
Also will be an on going league over a time period 2-3 months maybe
Points could work along the lines of:
Select outright winner of fight = 1 point
Select winner by decision = 2 points
Select winner by stoppage = 2 points
Exact Decision UD = 3 points
Exact Decision SD = 5 points
Exact Decision MD = 5 points
Winner within certain rounds (1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 - These will alter for 8 and 10 round fights) = 5 points
Winner in exact round = 15 points
Predict a Draw = 15 points
Using this system for the Klitschko/Chambers fight this weekend some predictions might be as follows:
Player 1: Wlad to win for 1 point, and Wlad to win by stoppage for 2 points
Player 2: Wlad to win in rounds 4-6 for 5 points, and Wlad to win by stoppage for 2 points
Player 3: Wlad to win by decision for 1 point, Wlad to win by UD for 3 points
So say the fight ends in round 8 TKO for Wlad.
Player 1 gets 3 points as both the predictions are right
Player 2 gets 2 points for the second prediction correct
Player 3 gets 0 points for getting both wrong.
Points in this way mean you can go with a safer more likely option and get lower points, or risk a higher points prediction. By having 2 predictions per fight, and the different points per outcome, this should give players chance to join the league later on than others and get in the mix if they have missed out on previous weeks. The amount of different selects possible should also mean that no two players will end up on the same points.
